Website Commenting System Changed to DISQUS

We have used Google Friend Connect as the main way for people to comment on individual webpages on our practice website since 2009. Unfortunately, Google recently announced that they are planning to shut down Google Friend Connect on March 1, 2012.

As such, we have taken the proactive step in replacing the Google commenting system throughout our website and replaced it with DISQUS which offers even more power and flexibility.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused to our regular visitors.

Updated Google App Translates English<->Spanish Conversation in Real-Time

Earlier this month, Google released an incredible app (only for the Android market at this time) that can translate English to Spanish as well as Spanish to English in REAL-TIME allowing for a somewhat stuttered conversation with translations on the fly.

At this time from what I hear, it can understand English pretty good, but understanding Spanish is not quite as good. With time, I expect the accuracy to improve to the point that potentially, this app can replace human translators in the exam room.

What a boom to breaking down language barriers in the hospital and clinic. At this time, I have to enlist the help of the AT&T translation services.

One can only hope that it'll become available on the iPhone soon!

Google Body Browser (Google Maps of the Human Body)

Google released a new "map" so to speak of the human body. In the same spirit and controls as the venerable Google Earth, Google Body Browser allows a user to zoom in and out as well as pan across the human body. Here is a window capture of a session when I was checking it out.

Currently, this internet-based program only works with Google Chrome which you can download for free here.

Access Body Browser here after you have Google Chrome installed.
