Snore Absorption Hotel Rooms

First hypoallergenic hotel rooms and now "snore absorption" hotel rooms. No kidding...

Crowne Plaza hotels have debuted on a trial basis specially designed hotel rooms to absorb the sounds of snoring. These hotel rooms utilize many different methods to accomplish this including:

• Sound proofing on walls to absorb the loud frequencies, deflect the sound waves and minimise the impact of snoring. The walls use egg box style foam which reduces the noise reverberating in the room
• A specially designed sound absorbing head board that will work together with the sound proof walling to muffle the echo within the room
• An anti-snoring bed wedge which acts as a body pillow, encouraging snoring guests to sleep on their sides or upright. Lying flat on your back makes the base of the tongue and soft palate collapse to the back wall of the throat which causes snoring
• An anti-snoring pillow which uses rare neodymium magnets to create a natural magnetic field, opening the airways and stiffening the upper palate which vibrates during snoring
• A white noise machine which is proven to help drown out the droning snoring noise and help sleep and relaxation

These specially designed rooms are being trialled in nine Crowne Plaza hotels across Europe and the Middle East.

Of course, there are a variety of surgical methods that can potentially cure a person's snore to make such rooms unnecessary.

Hotels Offering Hypoallergenic Rooms

Recently, a few hotel chains including Hyatt, Wyndham, and NYLO have introduced hypoallergenic rooms for those suffering from asthma, allergies, or just want a room with a clean breathing environment.

At least for Hyatt, the rooms are called "Respire" and as per their website:

"Respire by Hyatt rooms undergo an additional six-step process to reduce airborne particles and minimize the presence of potential irritants. This process includes installation of a state-of-the-art air purification system and treatment of all fabrics and surfaces in the guestroom. All Respire by Hyatt rooms are installed and maintained on an ongoing basis by PURE Solutions NA.

The Respire by Hyatt – Hypo-Allergenic Rooms purification process includes:

• Application of PURE Shield and PURE Clean to minimize presence of allergens on carpet, upholstery and other surfaces in the room.
• One-time shock treatment to minimize irritants.
• Complete disinfection of Air Handling Unit and Installation of removable tea tree oil cartridge to maintain these conditions.
• Installation of hypo-allergenic mattress & pillow encasings.
• Installation of a powerful air purifier by Healthway, listed as a Class II Medical device by the F.D.A.
• Recertification every six months."

These rooms (regardless of the hotel) are implemented by New York–based company Pure Solutions.

RANDOM! The Pod Hotel in New York City (Cheap & Great Location)

On a totally random note... I'm currently staying at The Pod Hotel in Manhattan this Memorial Day Weekend and what a great hotel! There are TWO key things about this hotel that is great. It is CHEAP and it is located in the middle of Manhattan (Click here to see a google map of the great location). What more can one ask for?

The rooms are clean and the size of a small walk-in closet. There is no private bathroom as the floors are set up in a manner reminiscent of college dorms with shared bathrooms. There is free Wi-Fi and cable TV is provided in each room. In the room, there is a bed, tiny desk, tiny sink, and a secure lock-box (large enough to hold a laptop).

The cost for a night on a Memorial Day Weekend? $124/night. On other nights, prices can be as low as $69/night.

Amazing... Definitely will be planning to stay here again in the future.
